GUEST SPEAKER: Jenna Maxwell and her mom, Jan Pangle
TOPIC: ABA Therapy (Applied Behavioral Analysis)
Jenna is no stranger to special needs children have 2 brothers on the spectrum. Jenna is also a licensed primary special education teacher and will soon be a licensed secondary teacher and licensed ABA therapist as well. Jenna is from White County and continues to live in the county. She hopes to start her own ABA therapy center in Lafayette.
Jan is also no stranger to ABA. She works on a daily basis with her son.
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is based on the idea that by influencing a response associated with a behavior may cause that behavior to be shaped and controlled. ABA is a mixture of psychological and educational techniques that are utilized based upon the needs of each individual child. Applied Behavior Analysis is the use of behavioral methods to measure behavior, teach functional skills, and evaluate progress.
